A fulltimers journal - March 2010
Comfort issues with Dinky pursuaded us to move back to a bigger bike, so here's the new ride. She's a 06 Softail Classic and we've named her Ruby (got to see her in the sun to appreciate the name). The picture doesn't do the paint justice. Dark almost black in the shade it's a glowing ruby red metal flake in the sun.
It's great to be back on the road again and we're looking forward to some great adventures this year.
|3/19/10 - Rest Area, I10 just west of Sanderson, Fl
I95>I210>I10> Sanderson, Fl - The original route had us back roading, but a 4 hour delay to get the generator return line fixed modified the plan so we decided to just stick to the big road.
It was really good to get back on the road and get a new view out the front window :))
This is a great rest area to top in. It's in the national forest with lots of trees and is generally quiet.
I10>I75>I24> Dixie Lee, Tn - nothing exciting today just a lot of miles. Made up for lost time yesterday and we're on the short side of this first trip now.
Dry camped in this giant shopping center parking lot. Short day tomorrow up to the Bowling Green KOA,
|3/21/10 - Louisville Truck Show
I24>I65> Bowling Green, Ky - a short drive and a full hook up so we can get laundry done, flush out the tanks and get ready for our 6 nights at Louisville.
Still getting back into travel mode I guess as I forgot to get a picture here, so I'll treat you with a shot of our booth at the truck show instead :))
|3/26/10 - Louisville Exposition Center Campground
I65>Louisville, Ky - from Bowling Green it's another short hop up to Louisville and we were among the first there. I waited on the picture until the lot had filled up, but it's nice being the first one in here. You just line up where you want to be for the water & power and then let the rest of them find a way to fit around you.
It was a good show this year, much better turn out and more exhibitors.
|3/28/10 - Cullman Campground, Cullman, Al
I65>Cullman, Al - Nice campground on the way to Fayette, Al where we're headed next to work with a customer. Nice little park with a long narrow road in. It's back away from the highway and a really quiet spot.
Whether you're looking for a quiet spot for the night or want to kick back for a day or two, this is a really nice little park.
We were headed for Fayette, Al to work with a customer, but a bad accident involving one of their trucks forced us to pospone it.
Since we had to cancel the week with our customer in Fayette we decided to drop in early and spend a little extra time in Pensacola visiting family before we head over to Texas for a little business and some RR.
Pensacola is a great town and Eileen knows all the best spots and history so it's a real fun place to explore. May have to get the bike down and take a ride over to the beach this week-end or may just stay in and relax :))
